Category: Warmening Theres a great article over at Climate Change Fraud with this quote: The eugenics movement and the global warming movement are similar in many respects. Both ideas were introduced by scientists, advanced by politicians, popularized by the media, embraced as a moral necessity, resulted in severe consequences and eventually rejected as harmful hogwash. |

Category: RDC Nurse Christine Chapel. Not sure whether her remains will go where no man/person has gone before though. Vale. |
Category: Audio Recently Apple released their In-Ear Headphones and I was looking forward to getting a pair. Whilst it is true they sound much better than what ship as standard with their iPod offerings, and have a really cool UI featuring FF, RW, Volume and microphone -- I reckon they're rubbish! There you go, not a patch on my existing Sennheiser MX 560 for bass response. At my age, bass response is important. FWIW my benchmark was run using the standard DB audio test suite: Pet Sounds, Graceland, a random podcast and a random movie (in retrospect, poor choice of movie I suspect but I felt like watching it). Price comparisom (approximate RRP): Apple Standard = $A50; Apple IEH = $A110; Sennheiser MX560= $A50 Your mileage may vary. |

Category: Grammar We have a case of apostrophe abuse from the Treasurer's office. I've always liked that this error is referred to as a Greengrocer's Apostrophe. |
Category: President Elect I'm personally proud that we'll have someone like this running the free world. |

Category: Apple The fruit company sends a strong signal to the fan boys -- no wonder they're losing market share in all segments...oh, but they're not! (one less boondoggle I guess) |

Category: Yuletide In this festive season, a time to look back on what we have done, look forward to what we can acheive and spend some quality time with our family and friends it's important that we think about those less fortunate than ourselves. Haven't found one for the Phone Company yet but. |
Category: Tram(s)Town That Train Bloke has posted this lovely snapshot of the Melbourne CBD from around twenty years back. It should go into the National Archives (hmm, maybe that's where it came from...). And the footage was almost certainly shot from the plaza atop Princes Bridge station. Big PT post here eh? |

Category: Thanksgiving I had no idea that FDR moved Thanksgiving from the last Thursday in November to the fourth Thursday in November. The best thing is that the reason for doing so was because people in the US generally don't start their Christmas shopping until after Thanksgiving and retailers were concerned with shorter shopping period when November had five Thursdays. Who knew? I only found out because it was mentioned in passing on one of my regular podcast listens, Buzz Out Loud. So Thanksgiving became a very Moveable Feast. |

Category: Utzon There's plenty being written about the Sydney Opera House and its creator. I think one of the best pieces is that by Jack Marx. |
